September 7 (SeeNews) - Marlboro maker Philip Morris International (PMI) will invest 100 million euro ($107.2 million) in a new facility in Serbia’s southern city of Nis, the government said.
The investment will enable the factory in Nis, which now makes only traditional cigarettes, to produce a new line of smokeless tobacco products, which will be intended for export, the government said in a press release on Wednesday.
The company plans to employ 200 workers at the new facility.
Philip Morris acquired Tobacco Industry Nis in 2003 and has invested over $800 million in its Serbian plant since. The plant employs around 900 workers, according to its website.
