BELGRADE (Serbia), September 14 (SeeNews) – State-run petrochemicals producer HIP Petrohemija was the most profitable company in Serbia last year, with a net profit of 40.5 billion dinars ($400.5 million/342.6 million euro), Serbia's Business Registers Agency has said.
Petrohemija generated 6.1% of the total net profit of the Serbian economy and ranked 17th in terms of operating revenue in 2017 with 37.883 billion dinars, the agency said in a statement earlier this week.
The company with the highest operating revenue in 2017, of 252.1 billion dinars, was state-owned power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS), which generated 2.5% of the total revenue of the Serbian economy.
Among the top 100 Serbian firms by revenue in 2017, 88 companies recorded a profit, while 12 booked a loss.
Among loss-makers in Serbia in 2017, insolvent conglomerate Farmakom MB reported the highest loss of 20.8 billion dinars. It was followed by state-run toll road operator Putevi Srbije and furniture maker Simpo, with a loss of 8.1 billion dinars and 7 billion dinars, respectively.
