April 26 (SeeNews) - The revenues of Orange Moldova, a unit of France Telecom's Internet and mobile arm Orange, were flat year-on-year in the first quarter of 2018, as incoming international traffic remained in decline, Orange said.
Orange Moldova's first-quarter revenues totalled 32 million euro ($39 million), Orange said in an interim financial statement.
Orange Moldova had 2.146 million customers at the end of March, down from 2.174 million at the end of 2017.
The operator's 4G network covers 98% of Moldova's population.
In June 2016, Orange Moldova signed an agreement for the acquisition of Moldovan cable and pay TV company Sun Communications. The transaction allowed Orange to enter the fixed-line and pay TV services market and offer new services, particularly convergent offers and services across fixed, mobile and pay TV services.
With the consolidation of Sun Communications, Orange Moldova had 99,000 TV services customers at end-March 2018, while fixed broadband had 47,000 customers.
Orange Moldova revenues rose 10% to 137 million euro last year on the back of steady growth in the sales of mobile equipment and fixed broadband driven by convergent offers.
At group level, Orange posted revenues of 10.08 billion euro in the first quarter of 2018, up 2% on the year.
