February 8 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's trade deficit rose to a total of 235.7 billion denars ($4.1 billion/3.8 billion euro) in 2022, from 167.4 billion denars in 2021, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
Exports increased 19.9% on the year to 511.4 billion denars in 2022, while imports grew 25.8% to 747.2 billion denars, Makstat said in a statement.
North Macedonia's exports mainly consisted of supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets used in motor vehicles, aircraft or ships.
The country predominantly imported metals of the platinum group and alloys, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals and ceramic wares for laboratory, chemical or other technical uses.
North Macedonia's main trading partners in 2022 were Germany, the UK, Serbia, Greece and China.
