SKOPJE (North Macedonia), April 22 (SeeNews) – The business confidence indicator in North Macedonia's retail sector edged up by 0.3 percentage points in the first quarter of 2019, compared with the last quarter of 2018, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
The first quarter reading of the index was 0.9 pp higher compared to the value recorded in the same period of 2018, Makstat said in a quarterly survey conducted among local managers.
"The financial situation in the first quarter of 2019 is less favourable compared to the fourth quarter of 2018 as well as the expectations for the orders for the next period. The number of employees is expected to decrease," the statistical office said.
The selling prices in the first quarter of 2019 have increased compared to the fourth quarter of 2018, and they are expected to decrease in the following three months.
