March 26 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's gross electricity production decreased by an annual 27% in January, to 593,808 MWh, the statistical office said.
Net electricity output fell to 563,425 MWh, from 705,161 MWh in the same month of last year, Makstat said in a statement on Monday, citing preliminary data.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross electricity production in January. However, their production dropped 86% year-on-year, to 229,038 MWh. Hydro power plants generated 155,923 MWh, down 16.1%.
Wind parks' output rose 48% to 22,983 MWh in the month under review, while solar parks more than doubled their electricity output to 14,288 MWh.
North Macedonia’s electricity imports more than quadrupled to 288,726 MWh in January 2024, from 65,447 MWh in January 2023. Electricity exports rose 3.6% 104,884 MWh.
Distribution losses increased to 137,461 MWh, from 125,828 MWh in last year’s January.
