March 15 (SeeNews) - The Montenegrin government said it plans to invest 71.3 million euro ($77.9 million) in construction, maintenance and revamp of state roads in 2024.
Under the plan, works will continue or start on building and revamping some 230 km of regional roads and highways, including 120 km in the country's north, 75 km in central Montenegro and 36 km along the Adriatic coast, the government said in a statement on Thursday after its regular cabinet meeting.
The planned investments will be funded by 14 million euro from Montenegro's current budget revenue, 54.9 million euro from the general revenue of the capital budget, and 2.4 million euro in loans from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB), among other sources, according to the statement.
In 2023, Montenegro spent some 89.5 million euro on the construction, revamp and maintenance of highways and regional roads, including 60.1 million euro from the capital budget (88% of plan), 10.2 million euro from current budget revenue (101% of plan), 9.9 million euro of EBRD loans and 9.4 million euro of EIB loans, according to the statement.
