October 25 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's defence ministry has signed a $36.2 million (32.6 million euro) agreement for the delivery of 67 Oshkosh armoured vehicles from the U.S., it said.
The deliveries will start in 2020 and will make Montenegro the first country in Europe to receive Oshkosh vehicles for its army, the defence ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
In addition to a high degree of ballistic protection, the Oshkosh vehicles can also overcome various terrain configurations, water and other obstacles in extreme weather, the Montenegrin defence ministry said.
"We have agreed with the U.S. a donation worth 8 million euro for cyber defence, which is very important for Montenegro and the Montenegrin Army, given the increasing threat of unconventional threats to which our country is exposed," defence minister Predrag Boskovic said in the statement.
Montenegro joined NATO in June 2017.
