March 15 (SeeNews) - Montenegro plans to invest 18.8 million euro ($20.5 million) in the maintenance and modernisation of its railway infrastructure in 2024, the government said.
Out of the total, 10 million euro from the state budget will go for maintenance works, a further 360,000 euro will be allocated to investment maintenance and 181,000 euro will be spent on upgrading railway crossings, the government said in a statement after a regular cabinet meeting on Thursday.
In addition, some 8.3 million euro will be spent on modernisation and raising the safety and security of railway transport this year. Part of the financing will come again from the state budget and another part from funds from the European Union's Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) and Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), the statement read without giving more details.
