March 15 (SeeNews) - The Montenegrin government said it has earmarked 75.1 million euro ($82 million) for agricultural initiatives in 2024.
This year's agriculture programme is supported by 51.4 million euro from the state budget, 15.6 million euro worth of donations and 8.1 million euro from loans, the government said in a statement on Thursday.
The agriculture budget will provide essential support to local farmers, agriculture producers, and cooperatives, with the aim of ensuring stable incomes, enhancing the competitiveness of domestic agriculture, improving living conditions in rural areas, meeting EU standards in food safety, and bolstering the fisheries sector, according to the statement.
Funds will be allocated as direct payments in cattle breeding and fruit and vegetable production sectors, alongside market interventions and support measures for rural development, among other initiatives.
