CHISINAU (Moldova), April 24 (SeeNews) – Moldova's telecommunications sector is expected to expand by around 2.0% this year to up to 6.8 billion lei ($505 million/365.4 million euro) after advancing 5.7% last year, the country's telecoms regulator ANRCETI said.
In 2013, sales in the telecom sector amounted to 6.64 billion lei, ANRCETI said in a statement posted on its website.
According to the regulator's forecasts, the fastest growth will be registered on the mobile and fixed Internet access market this year, by 15%- 20%, and on the radio and television broadcasting services market, by 10%.
Sales on the wireless telephony segment are expected to remain stable, while sales on the fixed telephony segment are seen falling.
The combined sales of Moldova's three wireless phone operators totalled 3.5 billion lei last year, ANRCETI said.
The combined sales of the fixed-line operators amounted to 1.11 billion lei in 2013. Providers of fixed-line Internet and data transmission services had revenues worth 880.1 million lei, while the sales of mobile Internet services generated revenues of 259.7 million lei.
