LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), March 13 (SeeNews) – Passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport increased 4.7% year-on-year to 208,995 in the first two months of 2019, Germany’s Fraport Group, which operates the airport in Slovenia's capital, said on Wednesday.
Aircraft takeoffs and landings at Ljubljana airport rose 5.3% to 4,926 during January-February, while cargo traffic fell 2.4% to 1,899 tonnes, Fraport said in a data release.
In February alone, passenger traffic at Ljubljana airport rose 6.3% to 105,470, aircraft movements added 9.2% to 2,417, while cargo transport edged down 0.9% to 922 tonnes.
In 2018, passenger numbers at Ljubljana airport rose 7.7% to 1,812,411.
In September 2014, Fraport signed a deal to acquire a stake of 75.5% in the company operating Ljubljana airport and later increased its shareholding interest to 100%. Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, the German company also operates the airports in the Bulgarian cities of Varna and Burgas.
