August 29 (SeeNews) - Kosovo’s privately-held public electricity supplier KESCO has submitted a request to the country's Energy Regulatory Office for electricity price hikes on the regulated market in expectation of further increases of energy prices, the regulator said.
KESCO is proposing an increase of rates for electricity consumption below 800 kWh to 5.43 euro cents ($0.0536) per kWh from 2.89 euro cents per kWh for the low tariff, whereas the high tariff would be increased to 12.86 euro cents per kWh from 6.75 euro cents, the Energy Regulatory Office said in a notice earlier this month.
The proposed new rates for electricity consumed above 800 kWh are 11.09 euro cents per kWh instead of the current 5.9 euro cents per kWh for the low tariff and 23.53 euro cents per kWh instead of 12.52 euro cents per kWh for the high tariff.
The Energy Regulatory Office is expected to issue a decision on the proposed electricity price hikes in the coming days, it said.
Kosovo's energy regulator in February raised electricity prices for consumers with average electricity consumption above 800 kWh per month. The rates were increased to 5.9 euro cents per kWh from 2.89 euro cents per kWh for the low night tariff and to 12.52 euro cents per kWh from 6.75 euro cents per kWh for the high daily tariff.
