December 12 (SeeNews) - Investments in Croatia's mobile network grew some 40% on the year in the first nine months of 2019, following the allocation of additional radio frequency spectrum, the country's telecommunications regulator, HAKOM, said on Thursday.
HAKOM did not provide figures for the volume of the investments in its statement.
Investments in optic cables resulted in a 30% increase in the number of FTTX (Fiber to the x) connections in the January-September period, HAKOM said in a press release.
However, the investments in the broadband infrastructure in the fixed network are lower than last year.
Total revenue in the mobile and fixed network edged up 0.3% in the review period, as compared to the like period in 2018.
In the mobile network segment, total revenue fell slightly due to lower revenue from domestic roaming users in the international networks and foreign users in the domestic networks.
Total turnover in roaming was higher but revenue dropped due to lower roaming prices in the domestic and international networks, the regulator said.
TV programme fees grew in the review period, as the service is used by 56% of the households.
IPTV (Internet Protocol television) is the leading technology with a 52% market share out of the total number of TV programme subscribers.
