April 4 (SeeNews) - Serbian company International Energetic Expert Group (IEEG) plans to install in the next two months the first domestically manufactured electric vehicle (EV) charging station, the company's owner, Slavko Vujovic, has said.
"Everything depends on logistics and the documentation we need to deliver to enable the public operation of the charger and we expect this to happen in the next two months," Vujovic said in an audio file posted on the website of regional public broadcaster Radio Televizija Vojvodine (RTV) on Wednesday.
The company plans to install the EV station in Stara Pazova, the city in northern Serbia where it is based.
Moreover, IEEG presented a concept for Serbia's first electric vehicle during the Belgrade Motor Show held from March 22 to 31, Vujovic said.
"We presented a video of our urban electric vehicle concept at the Belgrade Motor Show. The electric vehicle is developed on the basis of a chassis platform designed by our engineers."
The concept includes an electric engine, controller and battery management system developed by IEEG, Vujovic explained.
"Unfortunately, the development of electric mobility in Serbia is at a standstill. The main problem is the lack of subsidies and eco taxes," Vujovic said.
Serbia is one of the few European countries that still have no incentives or subsidies for the purchase of electric or hybrid vehicles.
Last month, environment minister Goran Trivan said the government was considering the introduction of incentives for the acquisition of electric and hybrid vehicles as of 2020.
