November 23 (SeeNews) - Germany-headquartered sensor technology corporation HENSOLDT said it has been awarded a multimillion-euro contract by NATO Communications and Information Agency for the delivery of equipment for Identification-Friend-or-Foe (IFF) system, within the upcoming IFF modernization programme of the Bulgarian armed forces.
HENSOLDT is to deliver for the Bulgarian army a number of MSSR 2000 ID secondary radars as well as cryptographic and test equipment and related services, the company said in a press release last week.
The IFF systems will upgrade the equipment of several airspace surveillance sites of Bulgaria's armed forces to the new NATO “Mode 5” standard, improving the distinction between friendly and hostile forces and thus helping to avoid friendly fire, the company explained.
Headquartered in Taufkirchen near Munich, HENSOLDT develops sensor solutions for defence and security applications. It is also expanding its portfolio in cyber and developing new products related to data management, robotics and cybersecurity. With more than 5,600 employees, HENSOLDT generated revenues of 1.2 billion euro ($1.35 billion) in 2020.
