March 21 (SeeNews) - German do-it-yourself (DIY) chain Hornbach will expand its IT centre in Romania, the company said on Thursday.
The expanded hub will initially focus on projects related to the company's online store and will then expand to serving various IT needs of the entire group, Hornbach said in a press release.
The company added that it chose Romania for this project mainly because of the country's large pool of IT talent.
"The Romanian IT hub represents an essential pillar in our strategy of internationalisation of technological aspects within the company. It will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of innovative technological projects for the entire group", said Andreas Schobert, CTO of Hornbach.
The number of employees at the IT hub in Romania is expected to reach double digits by the end of the year, as per the press release.
Founded in 1877, Hornbach currently operates 169 DIY stores and gardening centres and employs more than 25,000 people in nine countries. In Romania, the company runs nine stores.
