August 10 (SeeNews) - The number of foreign tourists who visited Serbia in the first half of 2022 rose more than doubled to 687,159 from 263,774 in the like period of last year, statistical office data showed.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourists in Serbia grew 84.6% to 2,044,069 in the first half of 2022.
In June alone, the number of foreign tourists who visited Serbia grew by 84.6% on an annual basis to 163,385.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was Serbia's biggest feeder market in the first six months of 2022, with 68,990 tourists, up 50.5% on the year. Citizens of Russia followed, with a total of 46,442 visits, up 64.2%. Visitors from Turkey came third, up 179.1% to 45,402.
The number of domestic tourists increased by 35.8% on the year to 936,922 in the first six months of 2022, taking the total number of tourists to 1,624,081, up 65.4%.
