September 9 (SeeNews) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia reached 4 million in July, an increase of 26.6% compared to the same month of last year, the statistical office said on Friday.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourist in Croatia rose by 23.2% on the year, to 23.7 million in July, the statistical office said in a monthly report.
Local tourist arrivals fell 8.8% on the year to 335,000 in July, and the number of overnights by local tourists declined 8.9% to 1.6 million.
Foreign tourist arrivals to to the Adriatic country totalled 10.6 million last year, an annual increase of 91.9%, following a drop of 68% in 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis.
Tourism is a key industry for the Croatian economy, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
