August 9 (SeeNews) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia reached 2.37 million in June, an increase of 116.3% compared to the same month of last year, the statistical office said on Tuesday.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourist in Croatia rose by 114.8% on the year, reaching 12.17 million in June, the statistical office said in a monthly report.
Local tourist arrivals rose 5.2% on the year to 289,528 in June, and the number of overnights by local tourists went up 5.8% to 904,160.
Foreign tourist arrivals to to the Adriatic country reached 10.6 million last year, an annual increase of 91.9%, following a drop of 68% in 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis.
Tourism is a key industry for the Croatian economy, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
