June 27 (SeeNews) - Albania attracted 604,430 foreign tourists in May, compared with 328,742 in the same month last year, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
Foreign tourist arrivals reached 1,677,691 in the January-May period, up 54.8% compared with the same period a year earlier, the statistical office said in a statement.
In May alone, the number of domestic tourists rose to 470,398 from 276,679 in May 2021. Overall, the total number of domestic and foreign tourists came in at 1,074,828 in the month under review, compared with 605,421 in the same month in 2021.
In May, Albania attracted 245,743 visitors from Kosovo, 60,951 from North Macedonia and 47,195 from Montenegro.
In 2021, the total number of foreign nationals who visited Albania jumped 114% year-on-year, reaching 5.7 million.
