September 16 (SeeNews) - Finnish electronics and wiring systems manufacturer PKC Group plans to invest 50 million euro ($55.4 million) in the expansion of its factory in Serbia's Smederevo, the city mayor has said.
The company intends to hire an additional 1,000 workers in Smederevo, Jasna Avramovic said in a video file posted on the website of news agency Tanjug on Saturday.
"We have been negotiating with PKC Group abiut the possibility for the acquisition of a hall with a footprint of 19,000 square metres in the last two years," Avramovic said.
The company plans to start the construction of the new production units adjacent to its existing factory on September 30, she added.
PKC Group opened its factory in Smederevo in 2014 and currently has 2,700 employees in Serbia.
