October 4 (SeeNews) - U.S.-based IBX data centre and colocation provider Equinix said on Thursday that it is investing $19 million (16.5 million euro) in building a second data centre in Bulgaria.
The data centre, located in Sofia, is expected to commence operations in early 2019, Equinix said in a press release.
Demand for Equinix services in Bulgaria is on the rise, as companies are constantly increasing the use of information technology in their business so they can keep up with the quickly developing digital economy, Zdravko Nikolov, managing director of Equinix for Bulgaria, said.
The new data centre will support Bulgarian companies in their digital transformation, providing them with interconnectivity with partners, easy transfer to cloud technologies and access to new markets worldwide.
Just like Equinix's first data centre in the country, the new centre will use only renewable energy.
