August 9 (SeeNews) - The European Commission (EC) said on Tuesday that it has approved Romania's 358 million euro ($366 million) scheme to support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) active in sectors particularly affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
The scheme was approved under the state aid temporary framework adopted by the Commission, the EU's executive body said in a press release.
The support measure which will take the form of direct grants will be open to MSMEs active in manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and accommodation.
The scheme aims at helping companies finance investments in tangible and intangible assets to overcome the investment gap accumulated in the economy due to the coronavirus crisis. It is expected to benefit about 1,000 companies.
