SKOPJE (North Macedonia), May 23 (SeeNews) – The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said it is looking for a consultant to assist North Macedonia's government in preparing a sector-wide pre-feasibility and financing options study for four regions of the country.
The country’s government and the EBRD are focused on exploring opportunities for developing projects in the solid waste sector with an emphasis on the southeast region, the southwest region, the Pelagonia region and the Vardar region, the bank said in a procurement notice late on Wednesday.
“The four regions together cover 59% of the country’s total area. The current status of waste management in the regions is very poor due to a number of interconnected causes at the sector level,” the bank noted, adding that the government now envisions investments to improve the solid waste infrastructure in the regions, and seeks the most appropriate financing structure for this project.
The assignment is estimated to cost 250,000 euro ($278,977), VAT excluded, and will be financed by the EBRD Shareholders Special Fund. It is expected to start at the beginning of July 2019 and has an estimated overall duration of 16 weeks.
Interested firms or groups are invited to submit expressions of interest until June 12.
