April 8 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said it adopted a new country strategy for Bosnia and Herzegovina for the 2022-2027 period focusing on the development of the private sector, infrastructure and low-carbon transition.
The strategic priorities of the EBRD in Bosnia in the next five years also include pursuing governance improvements and further regional integration, the bank said in a statement on Thursday.
Under the strategy, the EBRD plans to increase its support for Bosnia’s infrastructure, greener cities and better municipal services for citizens, as well as for energy efficiency in public and private buildings in 2022. The bank is also ready to boost lending to local banks in support of women entrepreneurs and the digital readiness and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, it said.
The EBRD, active in Bosnia since 1996, has invested 2.83 billion euro ($3.1 billion) across 200 projects in the country to date. Investments in 2020 and 2021 alone exceeded 300 million euro.
