January 25 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Thursday it is lending 150 million euro ($163.4 million) to Moldova to finance the rehabilitation of key roads in the country.
The loan will be used to upgrade and widen the M2 Chisinau ring road and the M1 Chisinau to Leuseni section, as well as to purchase specialised equipment and software for a road asset management system, the EBRD said in a press release.
The investment is part of a large-scale road rehabilitation programme financed by the bank, under which more than 340 million euro has been provided to Moldova so far.
The EBRD thus far has invested more than 2.2 billion euro in Moldova across 170 projects, with 40% of its portfolio in sustainable infrastructure.
