July 29 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said on Friday it will provide a loan package of 4 million euro ($4.1 million) to microfinance institution Agency for Finance in Kosovo (AFK) in support of women entrepreneurs and small businesses.
The EBRD will provide a 2 million euro loan for on-lending to eligible women-led businesses under the Western Balkans Women in Business Programme, which is backed by Sweden's government, the lender said in a press release.
The bank will also provide a loan of 2 million euro for on-lending to micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) outside the capital city of Pristina.
Peja-headquartered AFK is the fourth-largest microfinance institution in Kosovo. It currently serves more than 22,000 customers, the majority in rural areas of the country, through a network of 25 branches and 233 employees.
