August 15 (SeeNews) - EasyJet has launched flights to Berlin Tegel from Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport, the operator of the airport in the Slovenian capital said.
The British low-cost airline will operate this service three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, Ljubljana Airport said in a statement on Tuesday.
Berlin, where easyJet has a base, is the 34th destination served by scheduled flights from Ljubljana Airport, and the eighth new destination this year.
In addition to easyJet, which flies to London Stansted, London Gatwick and Berlin Tegel, low-cost services are also provided by Wizz Air, which operates routes to London Luton and Brussels Charleroi, and by Transavia, which flies to Amsterdam.
Low-cost airlines currently account for 20% of total passenger numbers at Ljubljana Airport. The three low-cost airlines operate a total of 25 flights a week from Ljubljana.
Passenger numbers at the airport increased 15% year-on-year in the first half of 2018, according to the statement.
