January 15 (SeeNews) - Danish bedding and furniture retailer JYSK said on Tuesday it will open two new stores in Romania - in the cities of Slobozia and Mioveni, on January 17.
The Slobozia store will have an area of 1,170 sq m, while the Mioveni will spread over 1,000 sq m, JYSK said in a statement.
"We have a strong start to the year by opening two stores in one day, continuing the accelerated expansion process of recent years. Both stores are in new cities, which means that the JYSK brand will now be accessible to customers who, until now, could only find us online," JYSK Romania maketing manager Iraida Paiuc said.
The two openings will bring the total number of JYSK stores in Romania to 68.
"Because we aim to reach 135 stores in the next few years, we are always looking for the right shopping venues for our store concept. We are looking for spaces of aproximately 1,300 sq m and we plan to have a JYSK store in all cities with over 20,000 inhabitants," said Jysk Romania development manager Hristu Geoge said.
JYSK entered the Romanian market in 2007.
The company has global annual revenues of more than 4 billion euro ($4.57 billion) and some 20,000 employees in 50 countries.
