October 14 (SeeNews) - Croatia's leading pasta producer Nase Klasje said it has opened a new 38 million kuna ($5.6 million/5.1 million euro) plant co-financed by European Union funds.
The new factory was inaugurated during the weekend at the location of the company's two existing plants in the town of Zapresic, on the outskirts of Zagreb, Nase Klasje said in a statement.
The facility spreads on 3,000 square metres with a possibility for expansion.
The European Fund for Regional Development has contributed 15 million kuna towards the cost of the project, Nase Klasje said.
The new production plant will triple the current capacities, and will facilitate the introduction of a new range of pasta next year, according to information from the company's website.
Local news wire tportal.hr quoted company owner Simunic as saying at the opening ceremony that his company is selling its products to ten foreign markets from Greece to Germany, and has recently signed a deal for entering the Swedish market.
Nase Klasje employs 40 people and plans to hire additional 12 workers, according to the media report.
The company was established as a greenfield investment in 2001.
