July 11 (SeeNews) - Croatia posted the third highest rate of increase in housing prices among EU member states in the first quarter of 2019, compared to the fourth quarter of last year, the bloc's statistical office said.
On a quarterly comparison basis, housing prices in Croatia increased by 3.5% in the first quarter and grew by 7.4% year-on-year, Eurostat said in a statement on Wednesday.
Bulgaria's housing prices grew by 2.6% compared to the previous quarter and were 7.3% higher compared to the first quarter of 2018.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, housing prices in Slovenia rose by 0.8% quarter-on-quarter in the January-March period and increased by 8.4% on the year, while Romania's house prices edged up by 0.1% compared to the previous quarter and added 3.3% year-on-year.
The highest quarterly rates of increase in housing prices among EU member states were recorded in Hungary and Portugal - by 3.7% and 3.6%, respectively.
The figures compare to an EU average increase of 0.3% on a quarterly comparison basis and a rise of 4.0% year-on-year.
