May 28 (SeeNews) - Croatia said on Thursday that its borders are now open to citizens of Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Germany, as a result of improved epidemiological conditions concerning the coronavirus spread.
Travellers from these countries will now be able to enter Croatia under the same conditions as prior to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the government said in a press release.
Upon entry, foreigners will have to provide the address of their destination, their mobile phone number and email address, in case they need to be contacted in relation to the epidemic.
In addition, citizens from the above countries are recommended to submit their personal data on a special website before travelling in order to reduce waiting time at the border, the government said, adding the website is operational as of Thursday.
Tourism minister Gari Cappelli said last week, when announcing the border opening, that visitors from these EU member states make up more than 60% of tourist arrivals to Croatia.
The Adriatic country has registered one new coronavirus infection and one death in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 2,245 and the number of fatalities to 102. Of those infected, 2,051 have already recovered from the disease.
