February 7 (SeeNews) - Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic said that a Chinese company will shortly invest in a new factory in Nis, in the east of the country, while another one will expand its capacities in Kragujevac, in central Serbia.
A statement issued by the president's office on Saturday, following Vucic's two-day visit to China, provided no further details on either of the two investment projects.
China's Yanfeng Automotive Interiors announced in August 2021 that it has completed the construction of a seating factory in Kragujevac and that it plans to launch production at another site by the summer of 2022. The Chinese company will manufacture seat components for various customers in a production area of approximately 20,000 sq m at the new factory, it said at the time.
In August 2020, the Kragujevac city government said Yanfeng plans to invest 18 million euro ($20.6 million) in the project by 2023.
Yanfeng already operates an interior component plant in Kragujevac, which it opened in November 2019.
