October 14 (SeeNews) - Chinese travel agency U-Tour is interested in the construction of a 100-room hotel in the Montenegrin town of Zabljak, the Montenegrin government has said.
The hotel will be built under the standards of US hospitality company Marriott, the chairman of U-Tour, Feng Bin said on Friday during a meeting with Montenegro's prime minister Dusko Markovic in Podgorica, according to a government press release.
"The Chinese tourism industry is very interested in the north of Montenegro and given the number of Chinese tourists visiting the country, we think it is a smart idea to have hotels there," Feng Bin said at the meeting.
Up to 50,000 Chinese tourists visit Montenegro annually and their number is expected to quadruple in the next five years, Feng Bin noted.
U-Tour is the largest private tourism company in China. In addition to tourism, the company is active in international financing activities as well as investment in hotel facilities. The group has invested in hotels in Japan, Norway, Switzerland, and owns travel agencies across Europe.
