June 10 (SeeNews) - Chinese manufacturer Higer Bus plans to deliver by October 174 buses to GSP, the public transport company of Serbia’s capital Belgrade, the deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, has said.
The company has received 57 new buses of Turkish manufacturer BMC and will get 13 more next week, Vesic said in a press release on Sunday.
"Higer buses will begin to arrive in July and will be received until October. With a total of 244 new buses this will be the biggest single procurement in the history of GSP," Vesic said.
By the end of the year, GSP will order the delivery of 50 articulated buses from Serbian manufacturer Ikarbus. Next year, the company will buy additional 50 buses of the same type, plus 30 e-buses from Ikarbus, Vesic added.
In March, GSP opened two tenders for bus deliveries. The tenders were for the delivery of 170 buses of the same brand and type, solo and low-floor for 35 million euro ($39.6 million), and for the supply of 70 buses through financial leasing at an estimated cost of 10 million euro. The deadline for the submission of offers expired in April.
