August 9 (SeeNews) - Production of electricity in Bulgaria rose by 16.3% on the year to 31,716 GWh in the period January 1 - August 7, the latest data by the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) showed.
Domestic power consumption edged up by 0.36% year-on-year, reaching a little over 23,531 GWh in the review period, according to data published in ESO's weekly newsletter.
Bulgaria's power trade surplus increased by just over 114% compared to the same period in 2021 - to some 4,361 GWh.
The volume of renewable energy in the transmission network added an annual 21.32%, reaching some 967.3 GWh. The volume of renewable energy in the distribution grid rose 15.12% to about 1,407 GWh.
The output of hydro power plants decreased by 29.3% compared to the same period last year to about 2,667 GWh, the ESO data set showed.
