September 11 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria has harvested 5.4 million tonnes of wheat from 99.91% of the total area under wheat this year, 6.27% less than in 2017, the agriculture ministry said on Tuesday.
Wheat prices have increased by around 25%, reaching 354 levs ($210/181 euro) per tonne for bread wheat and 318 levs per tonne for forage wheat, the agriculture ministry said in a statement.

The area put to wheat was 3.8% larger compared to last year but the average yield fell 9.88% to 4.74 tonnes per hectare.
Bulgaria has also harvested 501,000 tonnes of barley this year, 19.21% less than in 2017. The total area under barley was 12.04% lower relative to 2017.
The rye harvest totals 13,729 tonnes this year, with average yield of 2.03 tonnes per hectare.
