June 13 (SeeNews) - Total revenue from tourist overnights spent in Bulgaria in April surged to 55.9 million levs ($29.9 million/28.9 million euro) from 21.9 million recorded in the same month of 2021, the country's statistical office said.
Overnights by foreign nationals generated 21.3 million levs in April, or 4.9% less than in March, data from the National Statistical Institute (NSI) showed on Friday.
At 887,700, the total number of tourist overnights spent in the country in April was 114.6% higher than in the same month in 2021. Of those, 284,700 overnights were spent in Bulgaria by foreign tourists.
In April, four and five-star accommodation facilities provided 70.4% of the overnights by international visitors and 41.8% of the overnights spent by Bulgarian tourists.
The number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in April was 393,300, a year-on-year jump of 99.5% and an increase by 14.5% on the March figures. Foreign tourists totalled 103,400, spending 2.8 overnights on average.
