February 21 (SeeNews) - New passenger car registrations in Bulgaria rose by 24.4% on the year to 3,122 units in January, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) said.
The highest annual growth last month was recorded in other vehicle registrations, including fuel-cell electric, natural gas and liquefied petroleum gas vehicles, by 300% to 36 units, ACEA said in a press release on Tuesday. Plug-in hybrid vehicles followed, surging by 135.7% to 33 units.

Meanwhile, battery electric vehicles (EVs) posted the only yearly decline in registrations, at 15.1% to 135 units.
Petrol was the most popular fuel type for newly registered cars in Bulgaria in January, with 2,435 units, followed by diesel cars, with 419 units.
In the EU, new passenger car registrations climbed by 12.1% year-on-year to 851,690 units in January.
