July 11 (SeeNews) - Bulgarian vegetable oils and biodiesel maker Astra Bioplant said that its net profit grew to 12.9 million levs ($7.4 million/6.6 million euro) in 2018 from 2.0 million levs the year before, backed by higher revenue.
Astra Bioplant's sales rose to 1.19 billion levs last year from 1.06 billion levs in 2017, the company said in an annual financial statement.
Cost of goods sold increased to 895.3 million levs in 2018 from 752.8 million levs in 2017.
Expenses for materials fell to 171.6 million levs from 206.6 million levs, while expenses for hired services rose to 93.7 million levs from 87.4 million levs.
Net financial expenses dropped to 3.2 million levs from 9.3 million levs.
Astra Bioplant's assets increased to 317.7 million levs at the end of 2018 from 254.7 million levs a year earlier.
Astra Bioplant, which launched operations in 2009, operates a plant some 20 km away from the city of Ruse, on the Danube River.
