October 5 (SeeNews) - Local action groups in Bulgaria will receive over 280 million euro ($273.4 million) in support of the agricultural sector in the period from 2023 to 2027, caretaker deputy minister of agriculture Georgi Sabev said.
The financing will be provided under the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas, which is co-funded by the EU and the Bulgarian government, Sabev said in a press release on Monday.

The financing will be granted in accordance with strategies developed by the action groups in which they will set the amounts of the required aid.
Local action groups are non profit-making compositions made up of organisations from rural areas. The groups are entitled to apply for financial assistance through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) to implement local development strategy.
According to Sabev, there are currently over 60 action groups in Bulgaria.
