January 3 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's AES-3C Maritza East 1, the operator of coal-fired power plant AES Galabovo, said on Thursday that it has signed a 1.2 million euro ($1.4 million) contract with GE Power Infrastructure Romania.
Under the deal, GE Power Infrastructure Romania will carry out planned maintenance of the plant's distributed control system and will supply Alstom spare parts, AES-3C Maritza East 1 said in a notice.
The deal was signed on December 20, according to the document.
GE Power Infrastructure Romania filed the only bid in the public procurement procedure for awarding the contract.
AES-3C Maritza East 1 is part of U.S.-based energy conglomerate AES Corporation. In 1999, a unit of AES Corporation purchased the majority interest in the Maritza East 1 project, renamed AES Galabovo in 2009. The company completed the full acquisition of the 600 MW thermal power plant from Ireland's Consolidated Continental Commerce Limited (3C) in 2005.
