September 7 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria registered the EU's second-highest year-on-year increase in the industrial producer price index (PPI) in July, of 55.9%, preceded only by Romania with 67.4% and significantly higher than the EU average of 37.8%, Eurostat said.
In monthly terms, Bulgaria's PPI growth was 8.0% in July, or the third-highest among the 27 EU member states, with only Ireland and Hungary posting higher increases - of 26.1% and 9.4%, respectively, the EU's statistical office said in a statement last week.
Among the EU member states in Southeast Europe (SEE), Greece was the only country where industrial producer prices recorded a decrease month-on-month, edging down 0.6% in July.
With a PPI increase of 24.6% on the year in July, Slovenia ranked the lowest on this indicator out of the five EU members in SEE.
