April 6 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's parliament said that it has approved the government's proposal to extend the state of emergency due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic by one month to May 13.

The decision empowers the government to take all necessary measures to limit the spread of the virus, the parliament said in a statement on Friday.

Bulgaria declared a one-month state of emergency on March 13, five days after the first cases of the novel coronavirus disease. By Monday, there were 541 cases of the disease in Bulgaria with 21 deaths and 39 recoveries.
