May 10 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's tourism minister Nikolina Angelkova said that tourist arrivals from Germany and Russia are expected to decrease in Summer 2019 but an anticipated rise in the number of visitors from other countries will make up for the drop.
"We work directly with the markets in which we predict a decrease and expect to compensate it with a significant rise in other markets," Angelkova said in a statement on Thursday.
Angelkova said that recent data points to a rise in the number of tourist arrivals from several foreign markets - by 50% from Ukraine, 19% from the UK and 16% from Israel.
During the summer season, Bulgaria relies the most on visitors from Germany and Russia who stay mainly at its Black Sea resorts. In Summer 2018 (May-September) 909,825 tourists from Germany and 456,480 tourists from Russia visited Bulgaria, according to data from the country's statistical office.
