SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), February 5 (SeeNews) – Bosnian state-owned motorway company JP Autoceste FBiH said on Thursday that 21 candidates have applied in a pre-qualification tender for the construction of the Pocitelj–Medjugorje motorway section.
The tendered 11 km motorway section, divided into two lots, is estimated at 100 million euro ($115 million).
Ten companies have filed applications for the first lot - Pocitelj interchange to Pocitelj bridge, and eleven have applied for the second lot - Pocitelj bridge to Megjugorje interchange, JP Autoceste FBiH said in a statement on its website, adding that the bidding deadline expired on Wednesday.
After the submitted applications are evaluated the shortlisted companies will be invited to file final bids. The project funds are provided by the European Investment Bank.
The contracts for the construction and supervision services are expected to be awarded in June. The construction works on the Pocitelj-Medjugorje section, which will connect to the Croatian border, should be completed within 30 months.
The Pocitelj–Medjugorje section is part of pan-European transport Corridor V, which connects the Croatia's Adriatic coast to the Hungarian capital Budapest via Bosnia.
Last month, JP Autoceste FBiH said the construction of the Bosnian stretch of Corridor Vc can be completed by 2020 if works continue with the current pace and sustainable financing model.
