May 28 (SeeNews) - The Bosnian unit of Slovenian poultry producer Perutnina Ptuj plans to raise its production by 10% this year and by further 20% in 2021, thanks to ongoing investments in the upgrade of its manufacturing facilities, a company official said.
Total investment in renovating and expanding the facilities of Perutnina Ptuj-BH, launched some three years ago, will reach 4.5 million marka ($2.5 million/2.3 million euro) by the end of this year, the plant's production manager, Velibor Popovic, said in a statement posted on the website of Bosnia's Srbac municipal government on Wednesday. The statement was issued following a visit of municipality officials to the factory in the northern town of Srbac.
Moreover, Bosnia's foreign trade minister Stasa Kosarac, who also visited the company, said in the same statement that Perutnina Ptuj-BH will get an export licence number in the coming days, which will allow it to launch sales on the European Union markets.
Popovic noted that despite the current difficult period, the plant has not reduced its production volume amid the coronavirus crisis, and has kept all its 248 workers.
Srbac is located on Bosnia's northern border with Croatia, in the Serb Republic entity, which makes up Bosnia and Herzegovina along with the Federation entity.
