March 17 (SeeNews) - Bosnia's government declared on Tuesday a state of emergency in an attempt to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) disease in the country, it said in a statement.

The move will enable the deployment of additional resources to respond to this public health threat, the government said in a statement.

At the same time, the health ministry of Bosnia's Serb Republic said that no new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed on the entity's territory and their number remains at 20.

Local media reported earlier on Tuesday, that a seventh patient has tested positive for the disease on the territory of the Federation entity, as the number of infected patients totals 27.

On March 10, the Serb Republic government closed all schools and banned public gatherings for 21 days. On March 16, the entity's government declared a state of emergency.

On Friday, Bosnia's government closed the borders to foreigners coming from areas with a high number of COVID-19 cases. All Bosnian citizens arriving in the country will be subject to self-isolation of 14 days as of March 16.

Bosnia and Herzegovina is made up of two autonomous entities - the Federation and the Serb Republic.
