November 15 (SeeNews) - Supermarket retailer Billa Bulgaria, part of Germany's REWE Group, has plans for a new warehouse near Sofia, its CEO Vygintas Sapokas said on Wednesday.
The warehouse will span 8,000 sq m and will be located in Musachevo, near Sofia, Sapokas told a press conference.
The company is also investing close to 50 million levs ($27.8 million/25.6 million euro) in the construction of a warehouse near Stara Zagora, in southeastern Bulgaria, which is expected to open in the first half of 2025 and will create 250 jobs.
Billa Bulgaria also plans to open twelve new stores by the end of this year, including one in Silistra, in northeastern Bulgaria, on Thursday.
The retailer generated a 15.8% rise in turnover to over 1.1 billion levs in the ten months through October, according to data presented at the conference.
"Billa BG is experiencing a second successful year in a row, with an important growth in turnover and clients. We reached 1 billion levs turnover in September, a month earlier compared to last year. We grew our market share 0.5% to 19.7%. It looks like customers in Bulgaria have rediscovered Billa" Sapokas said.
The company increased its clients by 5.5% over the same period. Like-for-like growth in turnover was 12%.
